Does anyone know what the green number means by the contacts picture or the phone icon appearing sometimes?

Yes updates from Facebook , Twitter etc. That are synchronized on your phone

so its not text messages, cause i get that number but that contact is not synced with facebook

could be twitter or flickr or something. usually i dont find those to be all that reliable - i'll click on most of them to find that somebody "updated their profile" like 2 days ago.

sometimes it has status updates but i've usually already seen them. if you go to the update tab in their contact it will go away.
