I have a large contact list, of which about a dozen have ringtones that i've addded. When i unmount the extsd card, they all revert to "default". If i add those special ringtones to the "internal" sdcard, or the "system folder", will they stay attached to whatever contact i put them on? Thanks for any help.:(

Yes, if you move your tones to you internal they will be permanent. When you leave them on the Sd card and remove it, the path is broken and the device auto reverts to the default ones.

No sweat. See you around the forums.

Since you've been so helpful, i do have another question for you. On my SGSIII, i'm running the Quantum 4.4.2.v3 rom, and it's excellent. However, i'm not able to change the lockscreen wallpaper. The rom comes with the standard launcher, plus the Nova launcher, but neither will let me change the lockscreen wallpaper. What i put on the homescreen, goes on the lockscreen. I've tried other launchers, but it's a no go. Maybe it's a Samsung thing? Got any ideas? Thanks.:)

It's the ROM. When I was running SlimROM on my S3 I could change the lockscreen, home screen, and the notification shade background.

O.K., thanks. I'm really loving this Quantum rom, but i'll keep an eye out for SlimRom, at the next update. BTW, are the customizations, one of the differences between AOSP & AOKP roms?:)

Although, now that I think about it, changing my lock screen picture was kind of obscure. I will check out my Tablet and post the steps when I get home from work.

I hope this won't offend you, but Semper Fi.:)

Sorry...weak internet at work. Missed this post.
AOKP is a variation of AOSP, similar to how CyanogenMod is a variation of AOSP. I have never seen Quantum, but with Slim, I could remove the second page of the notification shade, mirror the toggles at the top for WiFi, Bluetooth, etc, Slim seemed more stable overall than CM, although I could never try AOKP, as they never developed for Sprint.

As for changing the lockscreen: I cannot confirm...the settings are not on my tablet. I believe they are in Settings>Interface.

They are in settings>interface however changing the lockscreen wallpaper isn't possible with the Quantum ROM. I was able to do it with Task 650's AOKP and other AOSP ROMs.

Quantum is a great, stable 4.4.2 ROM but lacks many of the customization features found on other ROMs.

For what it's worth maybe trying Go Locker might solve the issue?

Thanks. Tried Go Locker, and other launchers, but couldn't get it done. You're absolutely right, it's a rom thing. I believe that all the "SLIM" roms have that capability, so i'll wait for their version of 4.4.2. :p

I believe that it should be out soon.

O.K. My original complaint is baaack! Even though i did back-ups, when i update my rom, i still lose the attached ringtones to my contacts. I'm thinking that these ringtones have to somehow be imbedded into my google contacts, because all of the other info, such as address, phone number, etc., is still there after the upgrade. Is there any way to do this? Thanks.

You can try that. I have never had a problem with my ringtones after I started to keep them in my internal storage. Where do you get yours?

My ringtones are all in internal storage. When i reboot the phone, they are all still there. I do a back-up. It's all good until i upgrade the rom, then they all go back to "default". I tried going through the internet for an answer, but no luck. I tried going to XDA Developers, but no replies yet. They are very helpful on XDA, but sometimes they don't seem to have the time to help out a noobie. I'll keep trying. Thanks.

Sorry...I meant where are you getting your wallpapers? Zedge? Making them yourself?

All my wallpapers are Star Wars variations. I get them off of the internet, from various web sites.:p

It may be the device doesn't like the resolution you have and is trying to adjust. Say like if you have it set too high, it is probably trying to cut it down.
