Permissions a killer for apps/games?

I have an app I made and I didn't think about it until a friend mentioned it - but it goes into the phone book and pulls contact information (because a good premise of the app is sending text to people in your contact list).

Do you get put off when you see permissions like "access contact list" or location permissions?

Yes, many do. If you explain in the app description exactly how each permission is used by your app, sometimes that helps.

Well, it can worry some people, that's true. Personally, I don't worry that much about it, but I understand that people don't want to share all their info without knowing exactly what is being used and how. You need to explain this well to your users, and to have a good privacy policy that details how your app uses their info. That will help

I check "permissions" religiously. I DO avoid apps that say they access to my contacts, such as a weather app, why is it necessary to have access to my contacts, to send them spam? If the app is used for sending my contacts anything, I have no problem.
