I'm experiencing persistent and specific connectivity issues with my Android devices that I've been unable to resolve despite extensive troubleshooting. Here's a detailed breakdown of the problem and what I've tried so far:
Devices Affected:
- Google Pixel 7 Pro running Android 14
- Lume Pad 1 tablet running Android 10
- Certain apps and services fail to authenticate or load specific content when connected to my home Wi-Fi. For example, the Marvel Snap game shows a "could not communicate with login servers" error, and certain web pages fail to load after initial search results on Google are successful. Similarly, apps like Best Buy and Amazon hang when trying to access account-specific sections.
- These issues do not occur when I switch to mobile data or use a VPN (NordVPN), which resolves the authentication issues every time.
- This problem has persisted across two different routers: initially a Google Nest WiFi and now an Asus RT-AX86U Pro.
- Rebooted and reset both routers.
- Changed the DNS settings to Google DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) and Cloudflare (1.1.1.1).
- Created new SSIDs on the new router to eliminate any legacy settings conflicts.
- Updated firmware on both routers.
- Reset network settings on my Android devices. I could also potentially factory reset my tablet if someone think that's a solve but hate to do it to my daily driver Pixel...
- Tested with both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.
- Contacted ISP; they suggested changing DNS settings and confirmed they do not block or filter traffic. They found no issues on their end.
- Other devices on the network do not seem to have these specific issues.
- Problem occurs specifically with actions that seem to require secure connections (HTTPS).
