Personal dictionary - please help!

I have a Galaxy Note 8 and have used Samsung for years. I don't understand however, why there is no personal dictionary function anymore. If I spell a word incorrectly, it remembers it and offers it next time, so much so, that I am being offered an array of incorrect options and have to either search for the correct spelling or manually type it in myself. It is wasting SO much time because I have to double-check every single word before going onto the next one. I can erase some of these useless words but not all of them. Have Samsung explained why they have removed this function? If it isn't reinstated then I'm definitely moving to a different handset! Please help!
