Well as stated before moto has agreed to unlock bootloaders on newer phones. And it looks like they are starting. You'll able to buy a unlocked razr in Europe soon and then over here In America
But don't look at cdma versionto be unlocked vzw doesn't want razr unlocked.

There's no need, you can download the program and unlock the boot loader for the Photon with a few steps.

The steps you need(in this order) are:

The first step is always unlocking the bootloader. Check it out on youtube. They have very good videos. Once you're done with this process, THEN you root your phone and install CMW Recovery.

So, steps:

1) Unlock bootloader
2) Root phone (I recommend AIO 2.0)
3) Install CMW Recovery (I recommend CMW 5.0.2.7)
You'll find newer versions of the above two steps, but they're buggier. Remember, sometimes newer means BETA!
