Philblur fail

Argh! I hate some of the choices motorola made with this phone! I really like the phone hardware but can anybody, ANYBODY explain to me why in the world I cannot turn off the stupid double-tap on the home key feature! This renders the phone much less useful to me as it pretty much eliminates the use of quickdesk, one of the best apps on the market. Has anybody found a way to shut this off or get around this absolute stupidity? I'm so frustrated with parts of philblur that I'm tempted to return the phone and jump ship to att and the nexus one to get away from all of these stupid manufacturer skins. Not even launcher pro can sooth my frustrations right now.

Check Settings->Applications, it's the last option. I don't think it has an option to turn it off, but you could at least maybe set it to some other function that's more agreeable.

yeah, I found that but unfortunately it doesn't let me do much other than choose which app gets in the way...maybe this software update tomorrow will have some way of fixing it. thanks for the suggestion though.

An App that Does 'Nothing'

You are probably not the only person wanting to 'nullify' a button somewhere on an Android phone.


Maybe someone could write an installable app that drops all button calls to dev/null and put it in the marketplace?

Heck, if my App Developer kit beta invite had arrived already... I bet even I could make an app that does 'nothing'.

You should probably just return it, that way someone who wants one can buy it.

What is wrong with the double tap on the home key? It's not like that is something you accidentally do .... well at least I don't ... just curious.

It's not that i would hit it accidentaly, it is that i want to hit it intentionally to use it for some of my apps. The problem is when i try to use this for an app, instead philblur overrides so the app cannot do what i want it to.

I would suggest installing an alternative launcher app. I'm using ADW. Launcher on my DX and LOVING it!

Doesn't work, the double-tap home feature is built into the modified Android ROM, not Motorola's launcher.

Wait till the phone is rooted and and that crap can be taken out with custom rom's. God I love my Moto Droid Custom, custom, custom!!!
