what is the best way to setup my S8 plus and gear s3"verizon" in terms of being able to see and respond to phone calls and texts with my watch.

I bought the cell version of the watch because Samsung told me I needed the cell version in order to say leave my phone in kitchen, and just walk around the house with watch and receive texts and calls. however ive tried several setups, Bluetooth, wifi, or just cell service and it just doesn't seem to work consistently in any manner.

I had the iPhone, and apple watch and as long as they were on the same wifi, it worked great, leaving phone anywhere and still be able to respond or receive calls just about everytime.

Samsung setup just doesn't seem to work nearly as good.
so what am I doing wrong,

I have Bluetooth, on, but when Bluetooth, drops. I have it set to auto connect wifi on as instructed by Samsung, and to save wifi automatically that my phone connects to. this setup doesn't seem to work well as I do not get call notications, or texts 80 percent of the time.

I have tried wifi always on and that still gives me same results.

again I'm new to Samsung products and any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

You don't need to use the wifi if you're trying to receive phone calls. You need to use the LTE. You can't receive phone calls over wifi on the Gear S3. So I would just keep wifi always off, and then tell it to auto connect to LTE. That's how I have mine setup and I never miss anything.

You were misinformed by Samsung though, as I have the wifi only version of the S3 and I can make and receive phone calls and text messages on my watch so long as I am paired to my S8+ by bluetooth. The fact that your bluetooth is dropping out would make you unable to place or receive calls, but you can still send and receive text messages as long as you are remotely connected to your phone through wi-fi.

i had the wifi version, i wasnt able to leave the phone in the bedroom connected to wifi, and the watch on the same wifi and be in the living room and get the texts. My wifi is solid, in and around my house.
i was able to do this with my apple setup, watch, phone, tablet without ever missing a text, so i called samsung and they told me that the watch only worked like that though bluetooth unless i got the cell version, so i returned the bluetooth one, and got the S3 verizon.
Now with the s8plus and s3 verizon it only works sometimes, they told me to connect bluetooth, and use wifi auto on/off and it should work whether im bluetooth, wifi or Cell, however it does not. i miss calls and texts on the watch if i keep the phone in the bedroom and roam around the house with the watch. im going to try and just disable bluetooth and wifi and see what happens.

It does not work like the iWatch. Wifi is of very little use on an S3. To have calling functionality when outside of BT range, the cellular radio must be enabled. The watch will remotely connect the phone (doesn't matter if the devices are 300 feet apart or 3000 miles away from each other) and all notifications can be passed thru.

I tried using a saved WiFi remotely once it worked for text and notifications that's all I'll say haven't tried again ,I'm BT only and enjoy getting notifications on my watch super easy to see and read also SP my #1 favorite, S health works could be better does track my running properly in maps and simultaneous upload after reconnecting to my phone when I return home

Haven't had an issue with my S3 frontier. I've been on a conference call with my LG V20 and had it automatically switch over to the S3 when I got out of Bluetooth range. It didn't automatically switch back when I returned but I I could toggle that on the watch.
