Phone.apk vs. Dialer.apk

Phone.apk vs. Dialer.apk
Can someone clarify the difference between the two. I wanna swap them with some different themed ones and want to make sure which is which. Also is a dialertabactivity.apk the same as dialer.apk

I've never seen just Dialer.apk but dialertabactivity.apk is the phone icon and dial pad. Phone.apk is the actual service and what you see when you're on a call. If you change Phone.apk while the phone is running, you'll lose signal and get a FC loop. Adb push while in recovery would be the preferred method if you change that (even though there's no reason to).

dialertabactivity.apk is the phone dialer and phone.apk is the in call dialer as stated above. you dont need adb to push them. you can use root explorer and extract from the theme and copy and paste in system/app folder. you may need to reboot. if you are using a comm rom theme you need to be on the comm rom, and if you are not on the comm rom you cant use a non com rom apk, or your phone will explode.

Who knew! I was not a fan of the dialer in Comm Rom so now I am using the Black Alien dialer and I think it ROCKS!!! Thanks GM!!

I was only recommending adb push for phone.apk since its a running service. I have successfully added back many apk's from sc into comm rom with no issues.

i got why you were reccomending that, but if he knew how to use adb then he would probaply have known the answer to his own question, lol
