When I make a call I keep seeing a prompt: Was this a business? How do I remove, disable, not ever see this again? I pay for this phone, I've got to do their job for them, too? Please help me make it go away.

Are you using the stock phone dialer? If not, which apps dialer are you using? Which carrier?
Have you looked in the settings of the dialer?

That's probably Google's Phone app. It's to help them improve their Caller ID, Call Screen and similar functionality. Overall, it's a powerful function, but it has to depend in part on crowdsourcing, because the databases Google has access to won't necessarily specify if a certain number is personal or business. If you really don't want those prompts, you probably have to turn off those features in the Phone app's settings -- but then prepare for a deluge of spam calls.

Depending which phone you have ? Could be caller ID for spam or like mentioned above

It could also be the phone settings to. It could be locked to the carrier settings try calling the carrier

No, this is definitely a feature of the Google Phone app. It's helpful for Google to update its database about who's a business and who isn't. This is important for things like caller ID and call screening.

I don't think that was ever in question. The OP was pretty clear they are not interested in participating in building the software they paid for.
Edit: I'm not either. They shouldn't advertise phones as having features, then surprise us with 'you have to do the work though, have fun dismissing popups and pressing extra buttons'. Accepting these nuisances within our technology is how we got here

Sorry, my post was in response to vergason1, not the OP. I should've made that clearer by quoting them.

Also, sorry that you find this a nuisance. Personally, I would find it no skin off my back to completely ignore that little prompt and go on with my normal usage of the phone. Your options are to send feedback to Google about this from within the Phone app's settings, or consider a 3rd party dialer.

You could also try turning off the Caller ID & Spam option in the Phone app settings. I haven't tried it, but it's worth testing.

I get these "was this a business" prompts maybe one out of five new business calls I make or receive and none for business calls where I have already answered the prompt question previously - or from private calls (as would be expected).

While there is much about Google deserving of hard, honest criticism (and sometimes even ridicule and contempt), this hasn't been an issue for me and I'm pretty critical of being taken advantage of by profit-making corporations. The prompts are easy enough to ignore since they come after you have ended a call, you aren't required to answer them, and, at least in my case, it just doesn't happen that often.

You want spam calls minimized or ended some day? Invest a second of your life helping yourself, your neighbours, family, friends - and yes, the world, by hitting the yes or no button when receiving the "was this a business" prompt.

Maybe we won't know that you are doing your part to kick a few ne're-do-wells in the a**, but you can deservedly give yourself a pat on the back and feel good about doing it.

That pop-up is probably from the Caller ID and spam blocker stuff in your phone app—it’s basically trying to figure out if a number is personal or business by asking users. I had the same thing bugging me for a while. If you’re using the Google Phone app, you can go into the settings and turn off the Caller ID and spam options. It’ll likely stop the prompt, but fair warning, you might get more spam calls since those features usually help block them. Oh, and random thought—if you’ve ever seen terms like MOIC meaning in business stuff and wondered what they’re about, there are some handy resources out there to break it all down.
