Ive had the s3 for almost a year now, has really given me no problems until now. The lock button has become super sensitive, as in the slightest touch will turn on the screen, if it touches anything for too long the restart, sleep and shut down option come up. What should i do now? The phone has always been in a case, screen protector and all. I bought the insurance verizon offers as well.

actually the button no longer works, the slightest tap makes it unlock but pushing on it does nothing

Send it in for a replacement phone. Get you the phone you want and then sell the like new replacement phone.

Since you don't have anything to lose at this point, you could try popping the Power button out, blowing some air in there and putting it back in.
Otherwise, that's what you've been spending $6.99/month for - the opportunity to replace it if something goes wrong.
