Phone doesn't function properly unless on wifi

I don't get facebook messages or status updates and everything takes forever to load unless I'm on wifi.

I have to close apps and reopen all day to try to see if I get new messages.

Your mobile data is turned on, right? Are you getting 3G or 4G signal? Try installing Speedtest to see what kind of download speeds you're getting on your mobile data--if they're really low, then talk to your wireless provider.

Yep I'm on 4G so I don't understand because it's fast when I load pages just not apps so much and I never see new status updates or messages unless I manually check.

For Facebook, what's the refresh interval set at? Is it on Manual? Tap the Menu button for Facebook, then App Settings, and check the refresh interval there.

There isn't an option for manual. It was hourly but I put it on never now which I guess is manual? It's facebook, tinder, the list goes on about not updating. Even when I open the apps I usually need to force close to reopen to see messages.

Also even opening facebook messages it loads and loads and half the time I can't even see old messages.

What kind of download speeds do you get on the Speedtest app when connected to 4G only?

Do you have Sync enabled? And Background Data for both Tinder and Facebook?

59.5 download speed on 4g. Thanks for your helping.

Tom, I think I have background data off for both. Sync I don't think can be enabled for tinder?

I think turning on background data fixed the prob. Thank you a million. I turned it al off thinking it eats data heavily.

Popups? You mean popup ads? Or notifications? If you're getting popup ads, then maybe there's some adware or malware that's interfering.

It's not consistent. It updates me sometimes but not others.
