Hi all,

I played around with a friend's 6P last night and I really like it and now I kind of want to get one. If I do get one, I'd get the 64GB version in aluminum. I do have a question about it, though. Could this phone be an option for someone who works outside for 10 hours a day? I just worry about what I'd do with the phone if it rained outside.

It's not water resistant as far as I know. I'm sure you could get a case similar to an otterbox and be OK with light rain. For downpours, you might need a case specifically designed for keeping water out. I'm not sure if there are any made for nexus yet.

Other than that, as long as you're careful, any phone should be fine for outdoor use. I used to work at a home depot in concrete and lumber and i never once dropped my phone or had it stop functioning from my sweat or whatever dangerous chemicals i was covered in from a regular day of work.

Yeah, there's no IP rating for the phone nor are there any Otterbox cases for it.

But the Unicorn Beetle supcase is almost as good, I've read on Amazon.

First of all, you'll be happy using the 6p outdoors as I've had no problems seeing the screen in direct sunlight.

But are you gonna be using it much at work? You'll obviously want a rugged case, and as you know it's not waterproof, so you'll need to keep it in a safe spot if it rains.

Personally, if I needed my phone while doing outdoor work (which I did for 3 years while starting my business, now I don't do any of the physical labor), presumably making calls, texts and emails, is just get a cheap phone that can handle the abuse. I'd keep the 6p at home or in the car.

Either way, glad you're warning up to it and considering getting one. It's really a great phone!

I own my S6 active outright, so I could use it as my outdoors phone for those days when it may rain and keep the 6p indoors or use it outside on clear days.

Thank you both for your responses.

that would certainly be ideal ... enjoy it and let us know your first impressions next week!

I work outside for a living. Very harsh environments. I have a Supcase unicorn beetle case and a tempered glass screen protector on my phone. Same setup I had on my original moto X for two years. I keep the phone in my pocket, depends on which pocket it is in depending on the weather and if I'm wearing my rain gear, heavy coat, shorts, work pants etc. As long as you're aware where your phone is, which I am, I have never had any problems or issues. It has gotten a bit wet a few times and sometimes it's raining and I have no choice but to answer my phone, especially if it's my boss calling. But, so far so good.

Ah. That puts my mind at ease. Thank you.

Btw, I own my S6 active, so if I know it's going to rain, I can just use it instead of the 6p.
