Phone gets hot and lags

When I swith from WiFi to 4g my phone gets really hot and starts to lag. the data transfer thing underneath the 4g is constantly on. What's causing this anyone know?

Sounds like it is trying to download something very large.

Could be a Cloud Storage app like OneDrive, Google Drive etc... Syncing.

Can't you check under your data usage settings to see what's being downloaded?

Just noticed my TMO unit doing something similar at lunch today.
Tap the wifi icon in the pull down menu and it briefly lights up, then nothing. Go into wifi in settings and its off, then briefly switches to on, then back to off for 3 seconds, continuous loop. I can sometimes get it to actually turn ON if i tap On again while its in the off position.
THEN if i turn it off it gets stuck again.
I left lunch thinking my WiFi was off but 10 minutes later when i got to work my phone was hot and lost 10% battery.
Checked Wifi and its doing the on/off thing again..
Power cycling fixed the issue.
Tested it to see if its repeatable and sure enough it is.

Mine is doing the same thing. Just sent a message to T-Mobile that they need to look into it.

Found a work around.
go into settings, Privacy and Safety, Location, Improve Accuracy, WiFi Scanning ---- Mine is set to On which is causing the glitch. By turning that OFF i now have normal operation of my WiFi and phone is no longer laggy or over heating.

No, I'm still having the issue it's making the phone unusable.

if your not having the wifi issue then perhaps you have a syncing issue,
Wipe system cahce and reboot phone. That usually helps mine.

I don't have wifi scanning on and my phone has been running very warm the past day. Since I received the latest AT&T update actually. I am exploring my options with an iphone 7 plus because I can't deal with this horrible heat and crappy battery.
