Oh alright. So.. now how do I check what's running in the background

I just use what is built into Android Froyo... Settings > Applications > Manage applications > check the Running tab... many of these are started by the OS, and will be restarted by the OS and use up even more battery by restarting those that you stop... so be careful.

Another thing you can use to monitor what is using up your battery is to go into Settings > About phone > Battery > Battery use.
