Phone goes to sleep after making or receiving calls

Only had my brand new phone a week and it goes to sleep for about 5 minutes after I have received or made a call. After the five minutes are up it starts back up again. While it is a sleep I cannot turn it back on or off. Any ideas as to how to fix this?

OK, i'm going to make myself look a fool here, but it may help someone else who makes the same mistake.

I have found the answer to my question. I had placed the phone in a leather case to give it a bit of protection. It now transpires that part of the case was covering the Proximity Sensor and this is what was causing the problem as when the phone was removed from the case the problem went away.

Aaah, right. What's the name of the case, so I know to avoid it?

Can't remember the name of the cover (leather flip cover type), but it was purchased from The Carphone Warehouse
