I am looking at purchasing a phone holder for my car. I am seeing lots that have built in magnets and require you to stick something to your phone or car that enables the magnetism between the holder and your phone. My question is. are tthe any good and can the magnets do damage to the phone?
Some examples are made by baseus and also spigen

The only problem with suction cups is that they stiffen up after a couple of years in the sun and stop working.

As far as the magnets, no, there's nothing in the phone except the compass that they can affect. But the little disk you stick onto the dashboard is usually permanent. If you remove it, the dashboard may tear.

I've used a MounTek mount for about 6 or 7 years now - they have them for various mounts, air vents, CD slots, between the console and the seat.

There are better ones, but I don't like the idea of spending close to $100 just for a mount I may use once in a while (and that's what they cost - a separate "mount to the car" part and a separate "mount to the device" part, and both look like they were made to withstand a mortar hit).

Thanks for all the feed back.
I really wanted a small mount so I went out and purchased a cygnet MagMountVent. Magnetic Car Vent Mount with 360deg rotation. Seems good so far(1 day in). but its strong enough to hold a mate 10 pro. And seems very sturdy. Will see how it goes when I hit some dirt roads but for around town normal driving this should be good. $17aus. from the goodguys..
