phone idle and cell standby

my phone battery is being consumed by cell standby 50% and phone idle 46%. how can i reduce that. i am using samsung galaxy pro

Those are the only two things that are consuming your battery? I take it you aren't doing anything else with your phone? What is the other 4%, display? Either way, you really can't do anything to reduce that. My assumption is you could put on Airplane mode, and, that would get rid of cell standby. But, then your phone idle would just be at 96% with 4% display.

I'm having a similar issue but not as extreme. Ever since the JB update my "phone idle" have been increased slightly. I put my phone in airplane mode with WiFi on for 5 hours or so the other day and the "phone idle" was still the same and my phone was always warm like it would with searching for a poor signal.

My very uneducated guess it has something to do with Google Now. I'm going to try again with airplane mode on but WiFi off sometime midweek.
