Hi,

I don't know if I've nailed down the problem or not so this may sound like an off the wall question. The past couple of days my Rezound has spend a lot of time in my purse and hasn't been used much. Sometimes it's in a case, other times not. It gets a little warmer than normal but not hot to the touch. The battery drains at record speed as in a couple of hours I'm seeing red and have to charge. This is even after it's been charged for 6-8 hours.

Settings --> Wi-Fi settings --> Notify Me is UNchecked so I don't *think* it's because it's searching for a network but I could be wrong there.

The only correlation I can find to this issue is it being in my purse I don't notice it when it's sitting out at home but will be paying more attention to that.

I have a HTC SHIFT! It can be turned ON by anything magnetic! My belt slide case has a magnetic clasp that can turn ON my phone. I place the phone face IN in the case and I have had no other problems.

Just something to check!

You may want to consider that your purse might be blocking the signal, hence why it's hotter and the battery drains faster. Poor signal = higher battery strain.

look at the signal chart for when you are seeing the drain

Settings > About phone > battery > battery use>

Click on the chart at the top. It will show battery drain in relation to signal loss (if any)

Well she leaves wifi on when not in a wifi area. She's unchecked notify me, but left wifi on so I feel it's a safe bet that is part of the problem.

The best idea would be to look at the battery menu and see what the phone says is draining the battery the most.

Also uncheck the gyroscope and accelerometer settings, so it doesn't waste battery thinking its in Pocket mode or ringtone mode or flip for speakerphone mode.

Ok, folks. Thank you, I'll try your suggestions. Will these settings show accurately right after removing my phone from my purse? I've had it on the counter since I got home and I'm getting much better battery life.

You're probably getting battery life because your phone is now connected to your home wifi network (assuming you have one).

If you don't have it already on a homescreen, I suggest using the "power control" widget, which allows you to toggle your wifi, bluetooth, GPS, sync, and screen brightness states.

When you're not in an area with a wifi network, turn off your wifi otherwise it scans roughly once every 60 seconds looking for a network.

Is your purse lined with lead? lol. If you're up for the experiment, set your phone in an area like a countertop or wherever. Don't touch it for an hour. See what the drain on the battery is. Do the same except sit the phone in the same location inside your purse. If it is the purse then you'll see the difference here. Of course try to do it with equal charges on the battery, and take note of calls/emails/whatever may hit the battery even though you're not using the phone.
