Went to unlock it, screen froze and went black. Can't get it to do anything. Tried plugging the charger in, tried holding the power button. Tried also holding the volume buttons in every combination imaginable. Bone stock, no root, rom, or even launcher. Battery was at 60percent....any ideas?

He's dead, Jim!

Seriously, though, that sounds like bad news. So you did try the power button + volume down, hold both for >10 seconds? If that didn't work, I'd bring the phone in to a Verizon store and ask for a replacement.

Have you also tried holding all three buttons (Power + Volume Up/Down)? If that works, select Normal Powerup by pressing the Volume Up key.

Here's to hoping you have insurance.

You don't need insurance a warranty should cover this. I swap phones out all the time when they get like thus

Simple solutions work.... I started yelling at it, and the screen turned on. So far, so good. Not wanting to go through the hassle of a new phone over a fluke. As long as it doesn't do that again, I'm good....

What manner of magic spell didst though utter, good sir?

Reminds me of my Droid X. Occasionally it would refuse to respond to anything. Backlight would be off, but the screen would still actually be on. It either fixed itself, rebooted, or I pulled the battery. Ah, "good" times....

Must be a Motorola thing.

yes i would like to here the magic words myself . cause all the 4 letter words i been using dont work .

Mine did the same thing but a quick call to VWS solved the issue. He walked me throught a reset of some sort that did the job. Sort of like a battery pull.

I use this one myself...
