Hello. I have bought a phone from one of the carriers in my country (they're everything, internet service providers, telephony-telecommunication for whole country, etc). I pay off that phone monthly, for a year, when my contract ends. With a phone I got a new phone number, their SIM card. Now, if I am to put another SIM card (another phone number) into my phone, it just doesn't recognize it, doesn't allow me to use that phone number, it acts as if SIM is not inside. (even if the SIM is from their own network)

So, I guess they did something to a phone, they limited him (blocked him somehow) so I can use only this provided SIM card from them, until my contract ends. I guess it's their way of insurance that I will pay the phone fully by the end of the contract. Anyone knows what exactly and how they did it? Is there a way to bypass this, like root the phone or something, so that I'm able to use another SIM cards aswell?

Phone is HTC One M9.

It would be best to speak to the carrier about it so that you can avoid doing anything counter to the terms of the contract.

You're right -- it's hard to find anything official (although I wasn't able to search deeply on their main website, since I don't speak the language). A Google search does come up with lots of 3rd party unlocking companies, so you could give one of them a try -- but I'm not sure how legitimate (or legal) they are.

There is an option to switch website to English (upper right corner), but still, I doubt there's any info about this on it either way. Thanks thought. :)

edit: I have found "unblockbase" unlocking company. Might try with them, they have some good reviews.

I did that, and the Support option at the bottom turned into unclickable text. It's like the English homescreen is just a static placeholder. Guess they don't have too many English speakers stop by!:-\
