I had the feature enabled to answer calls when I took my phone out of my pocket and put it to my ear, and it worked great. Now, it no longer does. Tried disabling it and re-enabling it but no luck. Any ideas?

Didn't know it had that. Does the screen turn off while in a call and you cover the earpiece area with your hand? ie; is e prox sensor working?

Did you add or change a screen protector recently? If so, it could be causing the proximity sensor to malfunction.

I'll check that...isn't there some kind of orientation sensor of gyroscope that senses phone movement too? Another thing I never used but just tried is the "Flip phone to silence incoming calls". It did not work.

Both settings are in Call Settings under the Gesture section. The setting to answer the phone when putting to your ear is called Answer an incoming call.

Edit: Just checked the Proximity Sensor that turns the Dial Pad screen off when I cover it. Also turns off Lock Screen when I cover it. Does not turn off the screen if it's on my Home Screen, but don't know if it's supposed to.

My screen stays on if at the Home screen and then I cover the proximity sensor.

You can make sure the accelerometers (orientation sensors) are working by checking whether the Rotation function works, like when viewing pics, or in Chrome, etc.

Rotation works too, so I can scratch problems with those sensors. Unless there is another sensor I'm missing, I'll keep working on it as a minor software glitch with a couple others. My phone has none of the other more major hardware issues so I don't want to have to swap it out for another handset and take a chance on a new issue.

The feature worked again. Don't have any idea why as I haven't made any changes. *sigh*

I'm betting it won't be consistent though, just like logging in from Trusted Places...one minute it doesn't work, then it does, then it doesn't again.

Yeah the trusted places bug...happens to me too.

I'm not a tech person, so figuring out why this feature works for some calls and not others is beyond me. Another bug is ringtones assigned to particular people is not working right. The ringtone for my wife's number works fine, but the one assigned to my son never does, and always uses the phone's default ringtone (which is an old school, loud Pacific Telephone style metal bell I got from the Old Phone Ringtones app).
