Phone not loading SMS messages

The last few days I've gotten an error message when receiving SMS and MMS messages. It says message not downloaded, and when I click the download button in the thread it still doesn't load. Usually restarting the phone resets it back to normal, but that is a temporary and tedious fix. I am using the stock Samsung messaging app. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

Are you rooted or stock? Do you have any other messaging apps installed that might be interfering? Have you checked with your wireless provider to see if there are any problems with the network? Do you know anyone else with the same phone in your same area who's having similar problems?
