Phone profile name different from my contact entry, why?

Phone profile name different from my contact entry

Never noticed this before but I just got another android phone, Moto X Pure and signed into the phone with my google account. Now I have my name in the contacts with no info except for the name. I also have my name and all info in the contacts. I tried to merge but it won't let anything merge with the user name on the phone. If I have too I will add all of the info manually so there is only one profile in contacts but will I have the same problem when I get another new phone?

any help, info, suggestions appreciated.

Yes, contact info carries over, profile info does not.
