Hello! I have an Atrix that I have had since March and am now having issues with it. For no good reason my phone has stopped charging. I have tried a new charger, and plugging into different wall outlets and USB ports on the computers but nothing seems to make it work. I have a new battery I have tried but that does not work either. I also tried resetting the phone to factory settings and have no luck.

I have noticed when i took the battery out and put it back in, when I put the charger in the green light turns on and the phone turns on. So at that point it seems to be working normal. But when the phone actually turns on it does not appear to be charging. For the last few weeks the battery did charge when I turned it off and on, but at this point it has just stopped charging altogether. Does anyone have any ideas I can try before I send it off to get warranty repaired?

The first thing is to determine whether your Atrix is or is not actually charging. If you plug it into the OEM charger overnight and them run it the next day, does the Atrix operate a normal length of time? It is possible that the instrumentation circuitry is defective, but the phone, battery and charger are fully functional.

Another test would be to charge the battery fully, overnight with an external charger if you have access to one. then measure the voltage. It should be nominally 4.2 volts. If it is, verify that it will operate your phone for the customary length of time.

Most likely you will need to replace it. I hope are under warranty.

I hope you have access to a DC volt meter. You don't have to be an Electrical Engineer to own these new smart phones, but it helps.
