Phone sending odd SMS when booting up

I recently upgraded to Kit Kat on my stock, non-rooted N4. I have noticed that every time the phone boots up after being turned off, it seems to send an unusual text message. I do not know if this is related to the phone or the carrier. I am using T Mobile pre paid.

Any ideas?

Not 100% sure but I think it is hangouts trying to verify your mobile number for SMS integration. If you have already done this..maybe try uninstalling the hangouts update and reupdating..

I googled "activate:dt=6" and came away with the impression that this has something to do with Visual Voicemail, perhaps specifically T-Mobile Visual Voicemail.

There is another thread here regarding texts to a mysterious "status" to "9816" which I think are of the same nature. I am wondering if this is a Hangouts bug in that it is displaying backoffice texts which are not normally meant to be seen by the user.

Well, I'm not using Hangouts for SMS, still using the stock app along with SMS Popup. Also, I do have T-Mobile Visual Voicemail.

Edit - I saw a review on Google Play for the T-Mo VV app and someone posted the same thing in a review a few days ago.
