Phone sim card unlock.

My phone is factory unlocked but last night, somehow, my SIM card locked. It's asking for a pin. I tried what I thought it could be and my carrier gave me the puk code. Nothing is working! It's an htc one phone. I have no idea what to do. My phone is locked. Any advice? Or should I just get a new sim?

The SIM itself isn't locked, the phone is locking SIMs so you can't use one from a different carrier (which is probably "no carrier" at this point). It's most likely a motherboard problem. Considering that the phone is 4-1/2 years old, it's probably cheaper to replace it with a newer unlocked phone than to have the motherboard replaced.

A screenshot would help a lot understand the lock level your phone has.
