Hi. Please help, I don't know what it is on my phone. It started like this: I put my phone on charge, and then after I left and went to check the phone charge I saw a strange penguin in the centre of the phone for 3-5 seconds instead of the phone. Then after the strange penguin a red android appeared and it said I can't use the device. Maybe someone knows how to deal with this? Redmi Note 10!

Did you try anything before or after posting this? If this is odd and unusual the simplest thing to try first would be to unplug the phone and try plugging it back in, or just checking to see if it would restart.

While you don't mention it, did you by chance let the phone die (turn off due to low battery), or did you turn the phone off before charging? Just the way you talk about looking at the phone sounds like you expected to see a charging animation vs seeing the lock screen or any other battery level display. On a not so side note, it is not good to allow your device to turn off for low battery. This stops processes before they have a chance to complete, making any saves and ending processes under control. Letting your device die this way can cause unexpected behavior and is not healthy for your device.

Did you notice the device feeling warm to the touch after discovering it in this state? If the cord is bad or not making good connection you can have unusual behavior from a device but this can also be harmful to a device. Shorted connections can cause the device to heat up and heating phone batteries can be dangerous. This is another reason to check the plug, the cable and the connection.

Those are all of the questions I can think of at the moment. Really without input from you we're left guessing and can't offer any better advice.

Let us know what you find and we'll go from there.

Yeah, I tried it, I looked it up on the internet, but it didn't work. As for the charging on the phone, it was about 40%, and as for the temperature of the phone, it was cold rather than warm.

Is that really the case? I thought the OS would detect when the battery is getting low and allow/force running processes to gracefully terminate before initiating close down.

In recent history I have tried to avoid this because of the issues I've had and seen others have when the battery dies. It wasn't uncommon to have corrupted data after a dead battery shutdown a device. Similar to pulling the plug on a game console or PC, and then having the system scan the data fields and sometimes restart twice to get a proper shutdown and restart. This is why I've avoided this happening but when I search the web for information on this I only find older articles and links. So maybe newer devices can handle this better but I did find recent articles about how this damages the battery. So while it may not be as harmful to the software as it once was it appears to still be harmful to the battery itself. Take it for what it's worth.

I will still discourage users from just letting their devices die, regardless, because it isn't a good practice even if it just affects the battery. I will also continue to look for more recent articles that support or dismiss this idea directly because now I want to know.
