Question Phone won't charge unless restarted

My android (Revvl 6 pro) won't charge unless it is restarted. I've tried changing the box, and tried charging it in a car. It also won't charge on safe mode. I get an error saying "error! Unplug charger!" Or something to that effect. I only use wireless (my port needs repair but it was too expensive at the time). If I move it or turn the car off it stops charging and I have to restart it to start charging again. What should I do? Is it bad for my phone to be restarted every hour or so? I also can't afford to replace the pad (whole setup really, at this point, with fast charging) until I get paid Thursday. Is my phone done for?

Welcome to Android Central! It sounds like it could be a hardware issue, especially since you already tried Safe Mode. If the phone is no longer under warranty, then you might be stuck with having to pay for a repair, or look into trading in the phone for something else.

Also, now, after I restart I get the "Detect Moisture" notification, where it asks to unplug my phone and dry out the port... But I use wireless charging and the port isn't wet (I don't know why it would be)

Would it be bad for it if I continued to charge it the way I have been? I can't afford a new phone at the moment and I don't know if it has a warranty. It does charge with a wall box if I restart it too now (just recently figured this out)

OMG I'm so sorry. I thought 'safe mode' was when my phone (after being powered off) would pop up the battery letting me know it's charge, and charging status. I didn't realize safe mode is it's own mode entirely, I feel kinda dumb for not noticing it sooner, it's in the name. I don't know how to do that or what to look for. Again, I am so sorry for the misinformation I provided, and the misuse of the term

Here's how to boot into Safe Mode: https://www.t-mobile.com/support/tu...evvl-6-5g/topic/settings/how-to-use-safe-mode. Safe Mode will temporarily disable any 3rd party apps, which can help distinguish if a problem is due to the system/hardware or due to something you installed.
Thank you! Although that is the exact model of my phone, it does not follow the instructions. I'm supposed to press and hold the power button, the power options appears, click restart and it'll ask to boot into safe mode. I press and hold my power button, but it just restarts. No options or pop ups. Also, does the "detect moisture in the port" warning prevent me from wirelessly charging? It's the first thing to pop up after I reboot but the port is dry, I don't know how it would've gotten wet.

There are no images with those instructions I believe you've misread them.

Press and hold the power button until the options appear on the screen. Then press and hold the onscreen button until the option appears, not the physical button again.

In the meantime, what damage has the charging port taken?

Has the device been exposed to water/moisture?

What IP rating does this device carry?

Is the phone damaged in any other way, like from a drop or cracked screen?

Does the device get hot/warn when charging?

Why are you having to charge the device every hour or so?

How long does a full charge last? Are you able to get it to a full charge?

Is the phone swollen?

Depending on the damage it could be possible for moisture to get inside of the phone through a damaged seal where the charging port is, or anywhere if the device has a low IP rating or other damage. As far as is this dangerous, that kind of depends on the phone's condition. If it is getting hot or very warm during charging it could be dangerous not only to the phone but to you as well. We expect the device to warm up some during charging but excessive heat is a bad sign. Hot batteries explode. Also, if the battery is going low quickly or requiring charging often this is another sign that there could be something serious going on. Restarting the device often in itself isn't a bad thing as long as you're using the phone's built in options to power it down and not letting it die from low battery power. Repeated or frequent power offs due to low battery is very bad for the device like pulling the plug out of the wall on your PC while it's running. Data becomes corrupted, processes end without finishing, a lot of bad stuff can happen.

I know B. likes to try things in Safe Mode, I was recently helping someone and neglected to mention this because he so often chimes in with this advice, but in my opinion your goal should be repair ASAP, with Possible being the key word. I know you're in a pinch but have the device checked out to be sure there isn't any battery damage.

Here's a video showing it:

I agree with VidJunky that you almost certainly will have to get it repaired. Safe Mode is just one of the last troubleshooting steps to try.
