Phone won't lock

When I push the power button to shut off screen the next time I go to wake up the phone it doesn't come up to lock screen. It goes directly to home screen? It didn't used to do that. Any ideas. Thanks in advance
Update, when I reset the phone it fixes it, for a while

Are you using Trusted Places? If so, try disabling that; Google seems to have ongoing issues with getting Trusted Places to work correctly for any length of time. Several weeks ago, I was in Brazil (~5,000 miles away from my "Home" trusted location) for nearly a full week and my phone still wasn't locking as it should have been.

Second, do you have "Power button instantly locks" enabled? If not, then your phone will not lock until it has been off for a specified period of time; on my device (Pixel XL running the Android O beta), that time is under Settings -> Security & Location -> Screen Lock -> Automatically lock.
