I have a Galaxy S5 that worked fine until a few months ago. It will not text over any wifi that I connect to.
Have Verizon service through Tracfone, using message+ but have tried multiple message apps with no success. Cleared cache, did a factory reset, system says updated, nothing I try seems to work. everything else on phone seems to work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks, Jim

Just to be sure -- you still have the Wi-fi Calling Preferred setting turned on, right?

Other thing is can use Google Android message app as it will do this ..

This phone does not support wifi calling but wifi settings seem to be correct. Have tried google hangouts app along with several other message apps. Texting over cellular works just not over wifi. I may try contacting my service provider on the matter next.

Without WiFi calling, I don't think you can text over WiFi. Text is a telephone connection thing. (It's like voice, but typing instead of speaking.)

I've tried that app before and just now installed it again and no different. This phone texted over wifi with message+ app for a long time. That's about the only way I could send messages for my cellular service really bad here.

Try TextNow or TextPlus. I use TextPlus - It works on WiFi for me. No problems whatsoever.

Many (most?) texting/SMS apps do not support texting over wifi, as SMS uses the phone call connection system.
Of the apps that do support texting over wifi, it is usually the texting app created by your carrier, with the special coding needed to support wifi-texting.
If your phone plan and phone do not include wifi-calling, it is very unlikely that wifi-texting will work for you.

I have a Moto G Play - it does not have WiFi calling. I use TextPlus in addition to Google Messages stock app. TextPlus works fine for me using wifi - on cellular connection or wifi turned on. Bill paid or not. I'm not pulling any ones leg. Try it for yourself.

This makes sense. Message+ is a Verizon app from my carrier that worked for me. I will contact my carrier to see if they changed something with the app or with my service. If not ,it will be time to upgrade my phone.

Thank You all for your help.
Jim
