Hey guys,

does anyone know, what is the difference between phones "withGoogle" and phones without this distinction, for example on Sprint the Evo (with) and the Epic (without)?? This distinction is made for example ion the new Google site showing off all Android phone (Google Phone Gallery)

Do the one "with" get Android upgrades sooner, have more compatible Google apps, get Google apps and their upgrades sooner or what is the difference??

Thanks!

if you hover over the text at top left, it gives explanation of what it means. i think it's meant that these are all at froyo version? actually no because i see the htc hero is labeled as such, hmm....interesting.

This article addresses the fact that some phones are "with google" while others arent, and notes that there has been no explanation on what it means, nor any discernible difference given the hover over information.

though this article is about half a month old, i dont think its been stated, clearly, what this means yet.

So long story short: I dunno.

The phones labeled "With Google" are essentially certified by Google and have better integration with Google apps. The others are not.

I think the only difference is marketing preference. All Android phones are "with Google" ever since Google bought the Android project.

Phones that have "with Google" usually have certain set-ups required by Google such as a Google Home page. These devices basically have a list of requirements from Google that are more strict than regular Android devices.

BTW, my wifes Evo does not have "with Google" branded on it.

The original CDMA hero's were sold without google branding. Then, after a month or two, they had "with Google" on the back cover. There was a theory that the "with Google" phone were better built. I can't complain as my Hero was definitely built well.
