Photo backup after switching to pixel 4xl

I just ordered the pixel 4xl and have been on 2xl since launch. I was wondering what happens to all the photos I have backed up to Google photos? Do those remain unaffected?

They stay there and will appear on new phone. Pixel 4 doesn't come with free Google photo backup anymore for original quality, so anything that you take will count towards your 15gb max, unless you are using the high quality option vs original.

Does come with a month free of Google one.

Yes, they will continue to be stored at original quality for free. For ever. Even if you don't even have pixel phone anymore.
