Photo files on SD card not "scrollable"?

When I open "My Gallery" I can swipe my screen and view my photos one by one but when I open a photo folder saved on the SD Card, I have to open each file separately...can't swipe to view the next one. Is there a remedy for this? An awesome app I need to install? Any help would be appreciated. I've had this phone since August 31 and am still learning my way around. Thanks!
