Photo quality and file size?

I have the camera on my TB set to its highest resolution. The photos look good and are coming in at 3264x1952.

But the MB size of the file is about 40%-50% smaller than what I get with my 5MP camera. I know this has a lot to do with the complexity of the scene I am photographing, but I have accounted for that.

Are there any additional settings I am missing? Or is the TB camera just doing a better job at compressing the jpg?

You cant compare your dedicated camera to that of a cell phone. This cameras have a better and bigger image sensor which will give you a higher mb and image quality.
