Photon screen errors

Has anyone run into anything like this with their Photon? A couple times now, I have put my phone in my pocket, only to see this on the screen the next time I use it. The screen still responds to touch, but since I cannot see what is going on, I can never reset it. When I remove the battery and restart, it is back to normal. Does this seem like a handset that is getting ready to give up?

Thanks,

This has happened to me 3 or 4 times in the, last 2 months exactly as you described and show in the photo. Usually a battery pull corrects it BUT I have to leave the battery out for a couple minutes otherwise it doesn't reset back to normal.

My Photon has performed flawlessly and I really like it. I jumped at the Chance to get one when I was offered it as an exchange after getting 3 bad Samsung Epic 4G's in a row last summer. :)

Does anyone know if this Photon screen freeze turns into a permanent defect or is it just an occasional thing I shouldn't be worried about? Thanks

My photon has frozen on me a few times, but I've never seen that screen-nonsense before. A battery pull always helped, though. Suck.

The next time it does that, leave it like it and take it to sprint and demand a new phone. Tell them if you needed to make an emergency phone call and the screen did this, then you would have to pull the battery and wait for the phone to boot up. I have not had this issue so im not sure. Best of luck.

Since you may not be near a store when that happens, I would even try using the screenshot above to show them.

Its the Poltergeist!!!!!!!! Haha that has happened to me one time and all I did was did a hard reset and it never happened again. And it happened when I first bought this phone.

Folks,

As I reported previously this has happened to me a couple times a month since September when I got my Photon. I would pull the battery and usually this would clear up the problem. Last week however my Photon stayed in that condition no matter how many atttempts to reboot the phone by pulling the battery and the screen froze exactly as pictured. Long story short I pronounced my Photon DEFECTIVE and begged Sam's Club to exchange it for a new one which even though I was out of the 30 day return/exchange window they did the day before the long Thanksgiving weekend began. Thank God they did! So if anyone experiences this screen problem I'm guessing yours is going to fry at some point in short order like mine did :( Good luck!

BTW, Sam's offered me the option to trade up to a Samsung Galaxy II which I really really thought about but in the end I decided to stick to the Photon. :D

Will I regret making that decision ? I hope not

Hello,

I also had this happen a few months ago and it kept getting worse until the screen finally would not come back. The replacement Photon screen has been perfect. So far. Even coming from the EVO still the best Android phone choice from Sprint in my opinion.
