Photo's and Gallery Apps crashing

My wife has a S7 Edge and recently her two apps Photo and Gallery keep crashing. When I looked into the apps, there appeared to be, what I thought was, corrupt pictures. I deleted them and everything seemed to be ok. A couple days later it started again. At first I thought it could be because the SD card we put in was having issues. However, she only saves photos to the built in memory.

Does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this and how to fix?

Try taking out the SD card and see if it works fine. Whether the files save in the SD card or not isn't too relevant. The app will still scan the SD card anyway.

Mine was a corrupted SD card. As soon as I removed it, it started working right.
