I hope this isn't a dumb question, but I can't figure it out. I want to be able to take pix with my new Nexus 4, upload pix to googledrive (or skydrive, or box, or dropbox) and then get a link for the file that will show on an older forum as an img. I don't want a link someone has to click, but a way to directly hotlink the image to show up. I see people posting images all over this forum, what's the fastest way?

I've tested all 4, and while dropbox will give me a link, it won't appear on the forum as an 'img' (Proboards - pretty archaic). Photobucket works, and of course uploading to your own website works. Is there a way to do it from one of the online storage services so I'm not doing multiple steps.

How are you guys getting .jpg links online from one of the storage servers? This will help me decide which storage I'm going to stick with. Thanks!!

Hi there! Not sure if this will help...but a lot of us are using Talpatalk...when you attach the image...it gives you a few choices..one of them is to post using the talpatalk server...chose that one! Of course..this means you have to have the image saved on your device as far as I know...you can delete right after post...Im sure there are other ways..but thats how im doing it...super easy!

*edit...this also works directly from your comp...chose to use the local server instead of the url....you have to have it on your device tho...IE...phone, phablet, lappy...ETC. *Grins*

The forum I want to upload to is an old Proboards forum... and I can't get them to activate Tapatalk...

Is there no way to get the URL that ends with .jpg on any of the drive services that would post on an older forum:(? You can get this link from Photobucket or Flickr easily... but then you'd have to upload to GoogleDrive, then go to your desktop and download it from GoogleDrive, and upload it to either photo service just to get that jpg link. There's no faster way:(?

AHHHHHH...I c. Unfortunately...I dont think there is any faster way. You have to admit...the fact that you can do it at all is good...An older forum like that no supporting the newer technologies is always gonna throw a stick in your spokes...I wouldnt be surprised if some of the Forum mods around here had a trick up their sleeve for this sort of thing..but you gotta get their attention! *Grins* Maybe PM one of them...see if they can ask around and come up with something creative! *grins*

I just realized that I can download the flickr app, use it to take a pix, which would upload to the flickr service.

Then open flickr in Google Chrome (because the app won't give you the link either?!), log in, get my link by right clicking, and paste to the forum. Of course, doing this is hard on a phone, but it's doable, unlike using Google Drive.

Despite 'new' technology, plenty of people still use old forums, because they have huge communities that won't move. I can't believe googledrive can't let you see a jpg link for a jpg file... something we could do 15 years ago by uploading to any hosted site.

What's the point of a camera phone if accessing that image is as complex as downloading from a digital SLR? I thought we were sacrificing the quality for convenience. With all the security risks, no one wants to click links in emails. I won't even click photo links from friends if they can't embed the image in the email. Google drive's 'email' photo sends a link too, so it's useless as well. Actually, what's the point of googledrive without being able to do even that? So frustrated.

Google+ Auto Upload and a browser bookmark to your picasaweb Instant Upload album will do the trick nicely.
