Bug: In Google Photos for Android, there are occasionally media files (photos, etc) that don't get backed up to Cloud although they are in a Cloud-enabled folder. I determined this through a discrepancy in number of media files in Takeout (which matches number on Cloud as viewed in Google Photos on Desktop) vs number of files in leftmost "Photos" tab in the default Photos app (latest Android on Pixel). Finding the non-backed-up media can be tedious and time-consuming as there is no indication on the image thumbnail that it's not backed up; the only indication I'm aware of is in the information panel of a file in the Photos app (i.e. accessed on Pixel by scrolling up on a file), in which the "Backed up" row is missing. I think I notice this issue happening more commonly in some situations (e.g. manual download of media from WhatsApp).
I sent the following suggestions to Google; please feel free to share any other tips:
The bug should be fixed, but until it's fixed, here are some suggestions: (1) at the very least, the non-backed-up status should be indicated via an icon on the thumbnail for easier finding; (2) ideally, files that for whatever reason weren't initially backed up although they were in a Cloud-enabled folder, should be automatically backed up; (3) falling short of that, or in addition, there could be an option to bulk-"push" to the Cloud all files that weren't backed up due to this glitch, perhaps via Photos settings.
