Good day,

I'm the proud owner of a Pixel 7 and what attracted me to the phone was it's superb camera. I am a historical researcher and I scan or take photo's of old documents. I have a good setup to take overhead pics ... tripod, extender arm and attachment to secure my phone.

All I need to know is there a method of taking a pic on my phone without physically touching the phone? I would have my laptop with me when taking these photos, so I imagine somehow connecting my laptop to my phone is what I require. Using a timer is not an option.

Thanks for taking time reading this.

Much appreciated,

MrGreek :)

I think there are little Bluetooth remotes available.

Unfortunately, I'll be taking these photos in the National Archives of Canada ... the lil old lady behind the desk will gimme hell if I talk loudly... LOL

I think these little Bluetooth remotes are the way to go. I took a peek at some programs like TeamViewer, but I'm not in the mood for a subscription based solutionl

Many thanks for the quick answers....much appreciated

The Camera app on my Pixel Watch can also take a shot remotely, but that would require you to buy a Pixel Watch.;) (Which I heartily recommend -- I love mine!)

I bought a Camkiks Bluetooth remote from Amazon. $10, just buy yourself a spare battery. The one that comes with it doesn't last very long.

If you use Pixel buds you can whisper into it to take pics.

Not trying to take away from the idea of a Bluetooth remote if you think it'll work, but this section got me thinking. If the phone will be aimed in such a way that it makes it hard to compose the shot in the live view before taking it, you may want to look into something like Air Droid. It would allow you to tether to your laptop, with the ability to view the camera's live view and take the photo from the laptop.
