Photos stretched when emailing them?

[AC Question]

Brand new G4 and sent a photo to my husband, and to myself as well as I wanted to make sure everything worked ok) via the Share button. I shared via email.

Everything I used is stock as I just got the phone yesterday and haven't gone into any apps etc.

The photo that both my husband and I received (received on 2 different PC's) came out stretched. I took the photo in 16:9 aspect ratio but I can't see why that should effect things.

Any thoughts and suggestions as to how to fix this?

Welcome to Android Central! How large was the original photo file? Was the received photos also lower resolution, as well as being stretched? If the photo was very large, it might have been compressed (since the maximum filesize that can be attached to a text is around 1 MB), and perhaps this compression also caused that distortion.
