ok so im sure i will never get another samsung product but why the physical buttons on the bottom?

My thoughts exactly. Personally, I hate physical buttons. I've grown so used to capacitive buttons that I don't think I could go back. Then again, I know there are people out there who really like hardware buttons.

Gotta please all crowds, I suppose.

I know people who much prefer physical buttons. I think it was one of the selling point for the Droid X. Less guessing and uncertainty.

However, the downside of the phone for me really is the glossiness of it all. Huge demerits when holding the Fascinate. I love the Captivate, with a matte and textured metal back and less gloss.

I like the physical buttons on the bottom. I have them in my Droid X and it suits me better. I don't accidentallly tap capacitive buttons like I did with my EVO.

physical buttons aren't a bad thing, sometimes the touchscreen ones on my fascinate don't react right so having real ones like droid x works to that advantage

I'm with you!

I used to be adamantly against touch screen but now I don't want to go back to antique buttons, seems like a major step backwards.
I've never had any major problems with accidentally hitting any buttons but I also got in the habit of locking my screen after every use.

as long as they're not loose and move around a lot like my old Droid X

True, if they're not all loose and crappy like the DroidX, they might be ok.

Still not a big fan of the idea of going backwards in technology though.

Lol me too. Always pressing the home button. Well it made me very mad one day so I sold it and bought an optimus. Azaming dev community for such a non-flagship phone

WINNING!!

Swyped from my Gingerbread'ed Optimus S

I don't know if I'd call it a step backwards. Physical buttons are still viable. I'd even go so far as to call them classic. Execution is a different story. If they're flimsy and cheap feeling then it's detrimental, but Samsung usually makes some pretty solid hardware.

I like them on my Droid X because I can activate the screen using them, something nice on a device as tall as the X.

As long as the phone's built well I prefer physical buttons.Don't mind the buttons on the X or SonyEricsson's Xperia series devices.

I didn't mind them to much on my Omnia that i had, and probably wont mind them on the charge either. When i use my friends DX i feel like the buttons are to small on it, and they dont light up so i never know which ones im hitting at night in the car lol. The charges are a little bit bigger so hopefully that helps some.

I don't mind hardware buttons as long as they can stand the test of time and my own button pushing punishment. It's been nearly a year since I've had my Droid X and the home key is starting to wear out (no more clicking noise when pressing down on it.)

Perhaps capacitive buttons are the best way to go in my case. :)
