I can't remember the last phone I had with a physical key(s). How is the transition from on screen to three physical keys? I'm using a G4 and thinking about a switching to the active. Thanks!

It was nothing. I mean, one phone has keys on the screen and the other doesn't. It took absolutely no time to transition to it.

If you're not sure about it, you should go into the AT&T store and play around with the phone just to make sure it's the right one for you.

I had no physical keys on the front of my GS G3. Now I need to get used to the S6 Active as I have to press harder on the physical keys.

I love them... Seriously... The transition for me took less time to get accustomed to than the time to write this post.

Sure I like the g4 back buttons too on that phone they are placed perfect for me.

Having the programmable active button makes all the difference in the world... You will be surprised at what you can get it to do.

It took me longer to adjust to the location of the wake/power button than the physical keys.

My only issue is the negligible clicking when laying in bed next to my sleeping wife :-)

Thanks for the replies! Does the home key turn on screen or must you use the side power button? Anybody using AC display or dynamic notification?

The home key turns on the display, yes. Cant comment on AC display as I am not using it.

You'll get used to it. The physical keys are kind of annoying (and they don't light up, which is a bummer), but it shouldn't be a major factor in deciding to get or not get this phone.

And yep, just like any other Samsung phone you can press the home button to turn on the display — you don't need to press the power button on the side of the phone.

I assume that since you can feel them, you'll know where they are in the dark. Just like everything else we value :) AoN

I wish they would light up also.

You can also wake the phone via the "active" button, and map it to go to 2 apps of your choosing (1 via normal press and a second via long press).

So the two "active" button apps would bypass the lockscreen and any password/pattern that is set?

yup... you can also use it to go straight to the home screen as a quick open button if you want it to. Lots of uses for it.

By default it is set not to bypass the screen lock but you can change that in the settings.

I guess that is one way for quick access since it doesn't have the fingerprint access.

Does the double-tap to open the camera app also bypass the password/pattern?
