Picking and Choosing

I have realized that instead of continuously switching roms or waiting for the ones you really want (HTC Sense 3.5 (OptiSenseC) PLEASE!) to get less buggy, you can just pick and choose which parts of each rom you want and use them in your current rom.

I am using TheKraven's cm7 rom, and am using the JoyOS messaging app, but really want the launcher from OptiSenseC, but cant find it. Since I am no developer or modder or whatever, I'm really only looking at taking apks from different roms and using them on the one I have. I would really like some help maybe in finding the apk for it, or someone telling me that there is no apk (even though I've noticed the launcher is usually an apk) for it and I need to look elsewhere.

There is no way to use HTC's Launcher or Weather on other roms. However, there are modded apps that look like HTC's stuff. For example, you can change the dock in Launcher pro if you want.

The reason why you can't use Sense Launcher on CM7 is because Sense Launcher has a dependency on a LOT of HTC Sense frameworks. Basically, imagine Sense as chocolate baked into a chocolate cookie (the all brown chocolate ones, not chip). You can't get the chocolate out of the cookie, now can you?

Thanks, but I was really hoping for some thing that looks identical, if not exactly the same as the Sense 3.5 launcher. Why is that launcher different from the rest? as in why can't you just extract the apk from a rom and use that?

Oh I didnt see that other post ^^^^^ when I posted this one, sorry, that makes a lot more "sense" now

Another apk you should consider is the JoyOS/Joylicious Optimus music player, JOYMusic. That's a very nice package right there...and at one point before I caved and flashed Joylicious outright, I had it as the default music player in the Cold As Ice ROM. (With help from using Titanium Backup to "freeze" the normal music player, obviously)

But yeah, things that are baked in are pretty much impossible to dig out. *glaring at Sense* Though...I have seen, for instance a LOT of clocks that look EXACTLY LIKE HTC CLOCKS. Even the picture on the Options S box has one!! I wouldn't mind having that in a different ROM...once I change to something else that is, Joylicious is awesome sauce...yes.
