Just hoping someone can help with this little problem,I have mp4 thumbnails in the photo gallery on my s5 that i really don't
want there,I don't know why they are there & if i delete a thumbnail what happens is i lose that very mp4 track
related to that thumbnail....

Locate the folder that the thumbnails are in and insert a .nomedia file and the thumbnails will no longer be shown in the gallery. You will not lose the thumbnails but will only hide them.

Is that an empty file called .nomedia? And will it affect ebooks and the music players that are trying to display those pics?

Thanks.

.nomedia is an empty file.

There should be no impact on the app that use it so long as they don't depend on the media manager for display.

It is the media manager that goes through the folders and displays in the gallery those files it recognizes as valid media.

Please let us know what you find.

I think you need to be rooted .

No need to be rooted. Use a file manager like ASTRO or ES and go to the folder and use create or the like to put the .nomedia file there. That way the media manager will not display the files in the gallery.
