I recently bought Galaxy S9+ .. Its a dual sim variant ..
It an awesome phone .. Just getting one issue .. Picture in picture feature is not working for youtube. Is there is something I am doing wrong?

I just open the youtube application and than press the home button. So it take me straight to the homescreen with no separate window for youtube video .. Although google map works fine and I am able to get its floating window to work ..

Any help guys?

I have actually not able to do this with any app yet, hopefully someone chimes in

So if I understand you correctly you want a floating window for YouTube to stay open while you're doing something else on your phone. The only way I know how to do it is to tap the menu button to do split screen between two apps. Make YouTube one of the apps and then there will be a thin blue line between the two split screens. Highlight the YouTube split screen and then tap the square icon. That will open open youtube as a floating window. I hope I understood your question correctly. 20180404_154852.jpg

I thought you had to be a YouTube Red subscriber to be able to their form of PiP.

You must subscribe to You Tube Red or no PIP. The only app I can get to work is Google Maps in Navigation mode.

Yeah the only way to have the proper PIP for YouTube is by subscribing to YouTube Red. It's not activated otherwise. As mentioned above though Samsung have their own version using the floating window that you can use by swiping down diagonally from the top corners of the screen. It's been available for quite a while now and it's really handy but it doesn't work automatically like the official Oreo version

@makaroni .. No actually I was looking for proper picture in picture working like we get it using google maps. Please see the attached image ..

I guess .. like users here are saying tht one must have youtube red .. than may be tht's the reason I am not able to have tht pip feature working ..

If you watch YouTube (or any other video) in the Samsung browser, you can have a PiP/pop up player option.
It's the closest option without a YouTube Red subscription.

@SDTRMG .. Tht is more like resizing the windows by sliding it from corners .. Isn't it? I don't think its a proper picture in picture functionality .. I may be wrong ..
@UdiBerry .. Yeah tht's wht I am talking abt .. But it doesn't work for me even in Samsung browser .. When I play a video in Samsung browser and than press the home button .. It just take me to the home screen with no video popup ..

Yeah, it doesn't work automatically when you press the home button, unfortunately.
You need to press the pop up button inside the player, or the Video Assistant menu and "View in Pop Up Player".

It's like resizing, not exactly pip but it works pretty much the same.

Ok now I see. It doesn't appear to be that much of a difference. What would be the difference between the YouTube red PIP mode and the floating window? Is it that significant?

I didn't know this, thanks for the info. That looks clean!

I found a simple solution: Put youtube in multitask (half screen), press the horizontal line that divides the two apps, and you will see an icon with one square inside another, this button will make a floating window of youtube (or the last app you touch)

Actually this is not true since I didn't have a YouTube Red account however the picture-in-picture just started working recently

Same here no YouTube Red and it has began working in USA about a week ago simply by taping home same as Maps.

You can also open up the Youtube app, press the recent button and hold the Youtube tab for a few seconds and a box should appear in the middle of the screen then just drag youtube in it.

My pip was working with YouTube. Then it stopped. I went to Google maps and opened it, set a route, then closed it to get maps pip. I then exited google maps and opened YouTube and pip now works again.
