So I have the camera on my s5 set up to store pics on the micro sd card. Yet when I go to settings - storage - it shows 4 g worth of storage used up in pictures. Why is that? Is the area storing duplicates on both the card and the phone? I would think if I had set it to store pics on the SD card then storage would be showing zero for the phone when I look at the storage on the phone. Can someone please explain what is happening? I don't have much room left on the phones internal storage and wlibwant all the pics on the card, not on phone. Thanks for any input you might could provide on what is happening

Do you save a lot of photos from the internet or from apps like text messaging, facebook, tumblr, instagram, etc? The S5 does allow you to set a target folder on your SD card for pics taken with the camera, but it does not allow you to set a target folder for pics you download from other sources like the ones I described. Those pics automatically are saved in your device's internal memory and you need to manually move them over to your SD card.

See the below screenshot of my photo gallery. The camera gallery goes direct to the storage card as indicated by the icon that looks like a memory card. The screenshot gallery has no icon which means that album is stored on the device itself. The family album has the memory card icon which indicates that I have moved that album and all of it's photos to my memory card. Open your photo gallery and take a look at your albums. If they don't have the memory card icon on them, it means they are stored in your phone's internal memory.
