Is it just me or do you find the Note 3 pictures not really that sharp. I find them kind of grainy unless there is obsessive amount of light. Ps I don't know how to upload pics. I feel like my friends s4 is better by at least 20%. No smudges or scratches on lense

Yes, camera pics are blurry in anything other than full sun. You'll just have to live with it and keep trying to rationalize that it's got sooooo many megapixrls that it must be better than you think. Someone will come along soon and post a picture of a bright sunshine-filled scene and rationalize this for you if you'd like.

If you go though the photo stickies thread there are plenty of clear shots in all lighting conditions. Keep your hand steady and push and hold shutter button. Release when ready to take picture. With a steady hand it is a great camera for a cell phone.

I love it when people know how to use their camera! There is hope for mankind! Green means go! Thank you sir.

Deal with your blurry photos but don't come up in here like it is the cameras fault if you are not going to tackle the software ha ha!

Use the flash, it helps with the blurriness.

You should not have to use flash. The note 3 does *not* have instant focus. It takes a second to lock on properly......

I just find flash easier. Yes, in an ideal situation if you hold the camera still and the subject remains still, then flash isn't needed. I have a regular camera too, but I don't always carry it around. The other thing I do sometimes is to set to sport mode which is a little better for slight movement

That's cool. The note 3 doest do iPhone easy. It takes a minute to get how it works and utilize that.

Yeah, imo, the standard auto mode isn't very good indoors especially when you are in a hurry or the subject doesn't like to stay still (like my daughter). So if I use auto mode and auto flash, almost all of the pictures are blurry. Even with flash or sport, probably 1/3-1/2 are blurry. For a smartphone, this is just the way it is with a very active child. I have an lx7 which does a better job, but it is not really convenient to carry a smartphone and camera all the time.

Iphone does a better job in auto, but I really prefer Android for customizations, and also I must have a large phone as smaller phones like the s3 hurt my eyes after extended usage

Yup, but once you get used to the somewhat cumbersome software, the note 3 takes some dearly good pics. I am blown away with some of the stuff I can squeeze from this camera.

Yeah I found out smart stabilization makes them worse. I thought since it says backlight camera and I turned on all my lights I would get awesome pics. Ps: my hands are rock solid when I take pics, I even use voice commands to keep the camera still. Sun light pics are amazing. Inside house pics are iffy even know I have 3 daylight bulbs for this one small room. I keep flash off to prevent eye glow from pets

Try Pro Capture app. The shutter works a bit faster than the stock app. Focus seems a little sharper with the indoor pictures. The Note 3 can take stunning pictures in the right conditions. Its best pictures beat iPhone 5's best pictures. The iPhone 5s is a bit more consistent for the day to day shots (especially in so so indoor lighting). With a little patience though the Note 3 camera is awesome with a potential for the best picture.

Tisk. Tisk. Be very careful what you say about the Note 3 camera. There are a few folks here that will get really pissed off at you if you raise a very real and legitimate concern about the Note 3's poor picture quality.

The camera is not good. It's not you. It's the phone.

The software has very aggressive noise reduction that results in pictures that are not very sharp. I also find that I need to wait (auto mode) until almost fully processed to get a good photo. If taken properly, photos are comparable to iPhone 5 imo.

Or just screw the shutter button and tapping. Set it up to take the picture when you say SMILE vs. tapping the screen or pushing buttons.

I own the 5S, the Note 3, and the LG G2 at the moment and will be downsizing eventually to just one. If ignoring all of the excellent aspects of each device and focusing purely on the camera on each, I find the Note 3's camera to be disappointing. I have obsessively put the 3 cameras to test in multiple neutral test shots using a multitude of different environments and the only situation I can find the Note 3 keeping up is in bright daylight. Once outside of that environment I find it to be the worst of the 3 and sometimes by a fair margin. I have owned enough phones in my time to know this is not because I have a faulty G Note 3. I am more than confident I could return this phone time after time and still yield the same results.

I am not saying the Note 3 camera is poor. As a camera on a phone it can take excellent shots. And if you take the time to dial in each shot, making sure you are using the right mode, with the right metering, and the right white balance....you can truly take some amazing pictures. But when I am trying to capture those unexpected moments, or when I am aiming for that quick picture....I am not putting in that time and effort. I am taking what the auto-shot gives me. And when compared to the cameras on the other two phones, the Note 3 gives me the worst of the three in that situation. Others may disagree and that is fine. I am comfortable with my judgment because I have taken the due diligence to truly put it to the test.

I agree about the iPhone 5s. Day to day it takes the most consistent pictures in all conditions. I had he G2 and found it very inconsistent. Moving objects caused blur even in good light. Low light could be great in one shot and awful the next 2. Note 3 seems more consistent then the G2. Also the note 3 video trumps them both in clarity, smoothness and sound quality.
