Pictures/videos turn black in gallery? Help?

This made me sick. I have many important pictures/vids in my galley and this happened.
Some of my pictures/videos in the gallery turn black/blank.
When I press on a picture, I can't view it. When I press on a video, it says video cannot be played. Picture included of how the gallery looks.

I did some research and people say it's a bad sd card but I try 2 different cards. I also seen people say to clear the cache for the gallery and the camera, which I did and it did not help.

What happened?What's causing this?
Most important thing is how do I get this pics/vid back to work? Please tell me I will be able to retrieve them.

I have had the same problem with my nexus 4 twice. Once about a month ago and again today. I also feel sick to my stomach. Unfortunately I found no solution. This is the last time though. I am backing up regularly now.
