Has their been any improvement with max resolution performance?

Before Pie I was able to run max resolution with 100% fluidity. After Pie running max wasn't a question because of the UI frame dips.

Mind you, it isn't terrible, but is extremely noticeable (and annoying) to a trained eye. Pie is only the first major update... then again, it is still in it's first iteration so I'm wondering to anyone who got updates, did they adjust UI performance specifically?

It's a shame because that is just terrible optimization. Most people aren't going to complain but I have a right to because this shouldn't be happening in 2019.

I haven't gotten an update since April 28th on unlocked model so I have no idea what has been tweaked and what hasn't.

I literally have to run the phone at Full HD to get a usable experience. I just tried it again at max res and before I could even exit Settings a got major frame drops. Launching and exiting apps is most noticable.

Scrolling, not terrible but again, noticable. I never had this issue on Oreo.

Before someone tells me to factory reset. I been there, done that. This is an issue that stretches beyond factory resetting and clearing caches. We shouldn't have to do this after every update. Backup, okay fine. But having to wipe every time?

I try to love this phone, but the software is still terrible. Why can't Samsung get this right after all of this time? It's just the polishing. Something is wrong because even my Note 4 doesn't have these frame drops in the UI and that is ancient history in comparison to this still "flagship" Note entry.

Hi, I'm not experiencing this on my Note 9.
I'm on the unlocked version and on june security, maybe you should see if any app causing some issues?

I tried the phone in Safe Mode to see if I can replicate. After a fresh restart things are better, but I can still see UI drops here and there even with all other apps disabled.

I remember when Pie first came out there were a few reports of this as well, so I was wondering if it had been addressed or not.

Which carrier you on?

I’ve got the 128GB/6GB ram version on Verizon and use both Full HD and the higher resolution interchangeably depending on my need for better battery life... I have not noticed lag in either mode however...

Will switch to the highest resolution for today and let you know if I notice anything.

I'm on T-Mobile.
Funnily enough I just received the June security update today. It was about 6XX megabytes so will see what happens after a few days.

nope you're not alone man after that pie update I'm getting a lot of lag in high resolution it's not the hardware the poor optimization and it probably won't get fixed I've seen this before in the in Samsung phones

I've been running my phone on the max resolution for over 24 hours to test it out and I have found no lag whatsoever... that said indont tend to push my phone too hard in terms of what I use it for on a daily basis... mostly just phone, calendar, videos, YouTube and web surfing...

I've been using my Note 9 with maximum resolution AND brightness since Day 1. Maybe I don't know what to look for. The only issue I presently have is reduced touch sensitivity.
